Coloratura-in-Exilio Juliana Snapper creates radical operas in unlikely spaces, usually at great personal risk and inevitably drawing her closer to financial ruin. She employs opera as a technology of exchange both in grandiose collaborations and intimate performances, applying original research to push the sonic and expressive limits of the voice and to expand our understanding of what voice does and how it means. Snapper studied voice at the Oberlin Conservatory and completed her Ph.D. Dissertation in Critical Studies/Experimental Practices from the University of California, San Diego.
