Inés Leal represents a new generation of artisans that had to make their life between the city of Morelia and the village of Capula, Michoacan, Mexico, due to the lack of opportunities. The young woman's entrepreneurial spirit and fresh vision are reflected in her innovative and colorful pieces, well suited for stylized taste in kitchen and tableware. The decorative stippling technique used by Inés is referred to as “capulineado,” because it reflects the flower motif traditionally used in Capula. Inés has reimagined this motif with a simple, playful and elegant touch. The first artisan in her family, Inés has struggled to build her studio and the house where she lives with her parents, brothers and nephews. Thanks to the support of non-profit organizations her work is lead-free and she has two gas kilns that have helped her improve production and her quality of life.
