EXHIBIT & OPENING RECEPTION! Urban Design & the Next Generation

June 19th, 2008 · by Kirsten · No Comments

A Multi-Media Interactive Installation by Montalvo’s Youth Action Coalition

OPENING RECEPTION & Creative Community Dialogue
Sunday, June 29, 2008
2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Exhibit: June 21 – Sept 28, 2008
Hours: Thu – Sun, 11am-3pm

The field of urban planning traditionally exists within the confines of City Hall, but challenging times call for new approaches to the envisioning of our city’s future. Part of Montalvo Arts Center’s commitment to the Next Generation, the 2008 Youth Action Coalition with ADOBE Youth Voices, led by popular education crew, headRush, explores the future of Downtown San José through theatre-based activities, visual art and digital media. The YAC, a diverse group of mostly high school age students from seven Silicon Valley schools, met weekly for 11 weeks before joining with additional youth for a one-week Summer Institute to create this installation — our contribution to the collective re-envisioning of our urban landscapes.

The Lazer Wall

May 20th, 2008 · by Jeremy · No Comments

This was my idea for a wall that would constantly have laser shows being displayed on it. The lasers could display cool images or maybe even tell a story which would be cool because unlike movies which are bound by reality the laser show could show anything that one could imagine.
