Concerts in the Carriage House Theatre

Shopping season is here, and we know you're on the lookout for unique holiday gifts—so here's an idea: give a unique experience in the form of a live concert at Montalvo!

We've got a diverse lineup of performers coming this spring to our intimate Carriage House Theatre, where you'll feel like you're getting up close and personal with world-class artists. Perfect for a date night away from the kids, a group outing with friends, or catching up with your favorite special someone, a show at Montalvo is always unforgettable.

Here are just a few suggested concerts coming up that we think will make great gifts for the music lover in your life:

Add Bistro Montalvo or Martini Madness before select concerts to complete the night, or just arrive early to walk through our Project Space Gallery and explore our beautiful gardens and grounds. Students participating in Montalvo's Teaching Artist Program

This week, our Executive Director Angela McConnell penned an op-ed which ran in the San Jose Mercury News about the importance of arts education—the kind Montalvo champions through our Teaching Artist Program, summer camps, and other education outreach.

The column comes as congress voted this week to pass the Every Student Succeeds Act, which, among other things, will integrate the arts, design, and the humanities into the nation's STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs. The bill moves to the Senate next, where it needs your help to pass.

Incorporating arts into our education system encourages students to ask questions, draw broader conclusions and be innovative, independent thinkers. Now is the time to make this a priority!

Artist talk with
Lucas Fellows Sunday

Open Access: Artist Talk

Join us this Sunday, December 6, at 2pm for a daytime Open Access event: Lucas Artist Fellows Fieldworks Collaborative (Trena Noval and Ann Wettrich), Kija Lucas, and Monica Lundy will host an afternoon of activities exploring the relationship between art and nature.

A conversation with the artists will reveal insights into their processes and the stories surrounding their works which are on view in the Project Space Gallery as part of Botanica Poetica, Montalvo's latest exhibition.

You'll also learn simple techniques for sharpening your naturalist's eye and visually recording the world around you with California College of the Arts Instructor Modesto Covarrubias—and you'll gain new insights into harvesting fall crops while sampling delicious dried persimmons and persimmon tea.

Beer, wine, and food will be available for purchase throughout the event. Tickets are just $10 (free for Montalvo members); click below to purchase, or call the Box Office at 408-961-5858 10am-4pm Monday-Friday.
