Summer Camps are Almost Here!
Montalvo Summer Camps start June 12

The school year is winding down, so now it's time to think about what you're doing with the kids this summer. The good news is that there's still space available in many of our outstanding 2017 Summer Camps

Taught by top arts instructors and professional artists from around the Bay Area, our camps will give kids a chance to learn new skills, make new friends, and discover their creative talents -- all in the beautiful surroundings of Montalvo's grounds.

Half of this year's camps have already sold out, so now is the time to sign up! These are some of the sessions with spaces still available:

  • Upcycle: Furniture Redesign -- June 12-16, 9am-4pm (Ages 9 & Up)
Transform an everyday piece of furniture into an imaginative work of art!
  • Tinker Time: Space Exploration -- June 19-23, 9am-12pm (Ages 9 & Up)
Explore a new, space-themed project each day -- like designing the room of a spaceship, making an automaton, and more.
  • Space Quest: Race for Space -- June 19-23, 9am-12pm (Ages 6 & Up)
Design a model spaceship, choose a planet, and create a model for colonization!
  • Installation Art: Plankton to Constellations -- June 19-23, 1-4pm (Ages 9 & Up)
Create glowing works on paper, which will be components of an installation by teacher & artist Michele Guieu in our gallery.
  • Strokes of Genius: Painting Technique -- June 26-30, 1-4pm (Ages 6 & Up)
Learn the basic principles of painting and visual art in this fun beginner's class.
  • Electronic Art -- July 17-21, 9am-12pm (Ages 9 & Up)
Learn how electricity works, design low-voltage circuits, and create electronic art, including small robots and games of skill.
  • Snapshot: Digital Photography -- July 17-21, 1-4pm (Ages 9 & Up)
Learn new photography techniques each day, including lighting, framing, aperture, and more, then put them to use creating impactful images of your own!
  • Intro to Video Production -- July 31-August 4, 9am-12pm (Ages 9 & Up)
Bring a story to life through the magic of motion pictures as you collaboratively produce an original short film on our beautiful grounds.
  • Meet the Masters: Abstract Art -- July 31-August 4, 1-4pm (Ages 6 & Up)
Drawing inspiration from the world of artists like Pablo Pacasso and others, students will create their own masterpieces and learn the elements of visual art.

Go Intergalactic at Starry, Starry Night
Starry, Starry Night

Explore the galaxy with us on Thursday, June 22, from 6pm until the following morning at our spectacular nighttime arts festival Starry, Starry Night!

You'll get to view constellations through telescopes set out on the Great Lawn, experience a mini planetarium, participate in art-making activities, and see the progress of our astronomy-themed Summer Camps from the week. Learn a thing or two about our vast universe in a special presentation by Jonathan J. Fortney, a planetary scientist and Director of the Other Worlds Laboratory at UC Santa Cruz. You'll also hear poetry and stories about the night sky, have a chance to take a guided night hike, and enjoy outdoor screenings of the movies Space Camp and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

If you like, you and the kids can sleep on the Great Lawn and wake up to a pancake breakfast in the historic Villa. It's going to be an unforgettable time -- treat your family to a night they won't forget!

Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children under 18 (all children must be accompanied by an adult). Click the button below or call the Box Office at 408-961-5858, Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm. NOTE: staying overnight is completely optional; if you bring a tent, please do not use stakes.

Plus, as a special offer, you'll receive a 10% discount code for camps taking place June 19-23 when you purchase! See your print-at-home ticket for the offer code.

JUST ANNOUNCED: Shawn Colvin, October 6
Shawn Colvin

We have a confession to make: we've been holding out on you.

In addition to our awesome 2017-2018 Carriage House Concert Series announced a couple of weeks ago, Montalvo members have had exclusive access to one additional show: Shawn Colvin and Her Band on Friday, October 6 at 8pm.

Members were able to buy early tickets, but the great news is that now it's your turn! Starting tomorrow (Friday, June 2 at 10am), these tickets will be available to the public.

Colvin has been a prolific and moving singer-songwriter since the 1980s, but it was her 1996 album A Few Small Repairs -- featuring the breakout hit “Sunny Came Home” -- that garnered her two Grammies and launched her into the limelight. Her new tour is a program commemorating the 20th anniversary of the album's release. Special guests Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams will also perform.

For all of you diehard fans, don't miss out on two VIP packages: The Meet & Greet Package ($160) includes a Premier seat, a meet & greet with Colvin, a private pre-concert performance with Q&A, a personal photo with the artist, plus an autographed poster, tote bag, and commemorative ticket. The Tour Package ($120) includes a Premier seat, autographed poster, tote bag, and commemorative ticket.
