The Man Behind the Music:
Don't Miss Jimmy Webb This February

Jimmy Webb

Great news for all music lovers: award-winning singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb, creator of hits like "MacArthur Park," "Up, Up and Away," "By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” and “Galveston,” is coming to Montalvo on Saturday, February 4, at 8pm!

The youngest man ever inducted into the National Songwriters’ Hall of Fame, Webb may be best known for the classics he penned for artists such as Glen Campbell, Richard Harris, The Fifth Dimension, and others - but he is also an electrifying singer in his own right. If you're familiar with his songs, you'll be blown away when you see them performed live in our intimate, indoor Carriage House Theatre!

Literary Lunch with Karen Joy Fowler
Karen Joy Fowler

Don't miss an in-depth conversation over lunch with award-winning novelist Karen Joy Fowler on Wednesday, January 25, from 11:30am-1:30pm.

The author of multiple best-sellers, Fowler is widely esteemed by readers, fellow writers, and critics alike. With moderator Katherine Maxfield, she will discuss her remarkable career and her body of work, which includes The Jane Austen Book Club and her latest book,
We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves

Enchanting, unsettling, devastating, and funny, We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves is a masterful portrayal of a well-meaning but self-deceiving American family. It is equally a challenging tale of scientific hubris, a provocative coming-of-age story, and a profound exploration of what it means to be human.

A delicious lunch paired with wine is included in your $45 ticket. Books will also be available for purchase. Limited space remains in this exciting event, so reserve your seats today! Click below or call the box office at 408-961-5858, Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm.

Become a Montalvo Docent!
Docent Training

Have you ever thought it sounded fun to lead tours of Montalvo's Villa and grounds? Or are you interested in getting an in-depth education about the rich history of our beautiful property? If so, your opportunity is coming up in a twice-a-week, 8-session Docent Training Class that begins on Saturday, January 28, at 9am and runs through Saturday, February 25.

Classes take place on Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings and cover everything from Montalvo's origins to our present-day arts programs to our popular gardens and trails. You'll learn stories from Montalvo historian Jane Goldbach, meet some of our current organizational staff, and come away from the course with the ability to lead small group tours of our buildings and grounds.

We only offer this opportunity every few years, so this is a great chance to get involved with Montalvo in a fun and unique way! The course is free, but we will ask for a small fee for materials on the first day of class (exact amount TBD). If you're interested, click the button below and we will follow up with you closer to the start date with more specifics about the class.

We hope to see you!
