Holiday tea time:
a yuletide tradition

Yuletide Holiday Teas

Here's a confession: it's only September and we're already thinking about the holiday season. Are we crazy to start so soon? No way! Our annual Yuletide events presented by the Montalvo Service Group kick off early this year—November 20-22—and we want you to reserve your seats right away!

This year, we are offering up an entire weekend of holiday teas, with choices for the whole family. The weekend kicks off with a Yuletide Morning Tea on Friday, November 20, from 10am-12pm. Enjoy mimosas, pastries, and small sandwiches along with your tea.

On both Saturday, November 21, and Sunday November 22, bring the kids to a Children's Tea with Santa at 10am, featuring a special kids menu, a storytime reading, and the chance to meet Santa Claus himself!

If you'd rather ditch the kids, join us in the afternoons instead for adult libations at Champagne High Tea. Sweet and savory treats, and sandwiches will be on the menu, along with tea and a glass of bubbly.

Accompanying each tea will be a small holiday shopping boutique and musical entertainment. With a theme this year of "Home is Where the Heart Is," we hope you feel at home in the charming space of our historic villa. So, please join us!

Please note that due conflicts with a construction project planned on site this winter, our annual Yuletide Marketplace will not be taking place. Look for the return of that event in 2016!

Where in the world is Rockapella?
At Montalvo Nov 12

In this era of Pitch Perfect and NBC’s The Sing-Off, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more influential a capella group than Rockapella, who will be performing in our intimate Carriage House Theatre on Thursday, November 12, at 7:30pm.

Since they first achieved national fame on PBS’s Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?, they have toured the globe with catchy original songs and contemporary revisions of Motown, pop, and soul classics. If you're a fan of vocal music, this is a show you won't want to miss! Get a taste of their new tour and musical chops by watching this video on YouTube.

Click below to purchase your tickets today, or call the Box Office at 408-961-5858 10am-4pm Monday-Friday.

A day of art with
pop-up plein air

Pop-Up Plein Air

Join us on the grounds on Sunday, September 27, from 11am-4pm for Pop-Up Plein Air: Art Escapists, where you can connect with professional artists and artistically explore the beauty of nature around you.

People with any experience level or area of interest are welcome as we make art en plein air through painting, musical composition, performance, or whatever inspires you.

Gardener Ann Northrup and Fieldworks Collaborative (Trena Noval & Ann Wettrich) will also lead a walking tour of the gardens and hiking trails to help with your inspiration, and you'll have a chance to engage with Fieldworks' Curiosity Fieldstation.

Beer, wine, and snacks will be available for pruchase; be sure to bring a hat or sunscreen, plus any art materials you'd like to use!

Not feeling ready to go straight into artmaking? You can start the day off from 11:30am-1:30pm with Plein Air Primer, a fun workshop in our Art Barn that will help you with, planning, preparation, and paint time led by an experienced art instructor. The $45 registration fee includes all necessary art materials, which you can then take outside to join the Pop-Up event for the rest of the afternoon!
