¡Viva Club Montalvo!
Our spectacular gala grossed over $320,000 for our arts & education programs

Club Montalvo: A Gala Night in Havana

We want to thank everyone who attended Club Montalvo: A Gala Night in Havana this past Sunday. It was a lively and joyous evening at Montalvo—the kind of party Senator Phelan himself might have thrown—and it was a beautiful showcase of our Villa and grounds.

Between ticket sales, proceeds from our live auction, and our Fund-A-Need, we grossed over $320,000, which will help us continue our vital work in the Bay Area educating children, supporting artists, and engaging the public.

The evening was filled not only with amazing Havana-inspired decorations, vintage cars, Cuban music by Los Boleros, cigars, and delicious food...it also featured inspired dance performances from Irene Rodriguez and her partner Victor Perez, both from Cuba and brought to Montalvo through our Lucas Artists Residency Program.

Supporting artists like these from all over the world is part of our mission, and it is inspiring to see the kinds of memorable experiences they can create for our community at events such as these.

Thanks again to all who came; and to both those who were there and those who wish they were there: stay tuned to our Facebook page, where a photo album of the event will be posted very soon. Be sure to "Like" us and tag yourself and your friends if you see them in a picture!

¡Muchas gracias a todos!

Sheetal Gandhi &
Kristina Wong
bring Asian Art Week
to Montalvo

Sheetal Gandhi

Join us for a unique Final Friday Art Party on September 26, from 6-9pm. This two-part evening features presentations by performers Sheetal Gandhi and Kristina Wong in the Carriage House Theatre, followed by the opening of our new exhibition Perceptual in the Project Space Gallery.

Ghandi, a singer, dancer, choreographer, and actor, will perform her solo dance-theater work, Bahu-Beti-Biwi (Daughter-in-law, Daughter, Wife). Merging dance and music, Gandhi creates characters inspired by her own family members and explores the generational shifts that are reshaping our definitions of freedom, desire, duty, and love.

A writer, cultural commentator, and performer, Wong will present a piece from her hilarious new one-woman show,
The Wong Street Journal. Known for her trademark wit and critical exploration of pressing social issues, Wong describes her aesthetic as "subversive, humorous, and endearingly inappropriate."

These two performances are presented as part of Asian Contemporary Art Week San Francisco, a showcase of work by Asian artists throughout the Bay Area.

Meet and mingle with the artists in the gallery following the performance, and see new original works by Chris Fraser and Justin Lowman. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Suggested donation is $10. RSVP on Facebook and invite your friends to this truly memorable night!
