Jake Shimabukuro

This week, we announced an exciting addition to our 2015-2016 Carriage House Concert Series: ukulele sensation Jake Shimabukuro will play two shows (3pm and 7pm) on Sunday, April 10, 2016.

Shimabukuro has performed on two Grammy-winning albums and has amassed 15 Hawaii Music Awards and 16 Na Hoku Awards. His 2011 album Peace Love Ukulele reached #1 on Billboard's World Music charts, and a 2012 documentary about him entitled Life On Four Strings won awards at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and showed at many other festivals before screening to a nationwide audience on PBS.

You may also recognize Shimabukuro from viral videos on YouTube of his ukulele renditions of popular tunes, including "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and "Bohemian Rhapsody." Click here to watch, listen, and be amazed!

Last chance for a Summer Night
Monotype Printing + you!

Monotype Printing

Sign up today for the last in our fun series of Tuesday evening summer art classes for adults—because spaces are nearly gone!

Acrylic Painting class is already sold out (sorry!) but there's still room in Monotype Printing on August 25 from 6-8pm in our charming Creekside Studios.

Think "monotype printing" sounds too technical and dry? No way! This printing style is doubly creative, involving both etching and painting, and each print is a unique creation. Low-pressure instruction ensures that even with no experience, you'll come away with works of art to be proud of.

You'll also get a glass of wine and tasty snacks, plus supplies - all included in the $35 registration fee. So sign up, show up, and get creative in a fun, relaxed setting.

Mavis Staples & Patty
Griffin perform July 23

Mavis Staples & Patty Griffin

Join us next Thursday, July 23, at 7:30pm, as our Summer Concert Series continues with an unforgettable performance by Mavis Staples and Patty Griffin in the final stop on their "Sweet Harmony Soul" tour.

Griffin and Staples first joined forces during the 2007 recording of the Grammy-winning gospel album Oh Happy Day: An All-Star Music Celebration. Their duet "Waiting For My Child to Come Home" was one of that album's highlights.

Both performers later earned 2010 Grammy Awards: Staples won Best Americana Album for You Are Not Alone and Griffin took home Best Traditional Gospel Album for Downtown Church. Staples also just released a new EP entitled Your Good Fortune.

When you purchase your tickets, be sure to add Dining on the Terrace, our elegant pre-concert meal catered by Café Primavera. You and your party, seated on the beautiful front veranda of the historic Villa, wll enjoy a three-course prix fixe dinner. It's the perfect way to start your concert evening.

We hope to see you there!
