Shakespeare Santa Cruz Shakespeare Santa Cruz

returns to Montalvo this summer

with Twelfth Night

Shakespeare Santa Cruz will return to Montalvo for six performances of Shakespeare's classic Twelfth Night from September 7-16 in the beautiful outdoor Lilian Fontaine Garden Theatre.

Performances of Twelfth Night will take place on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees, and tickets will be available exclusively through the Montalvo Box Office. Tickets will be available May 1 to Members and Shakespeare Santa Cruz subscribers; tickets go on sale to the public beginning May 10.

Montalvo in the News

The historic Villa

Have you noticed that Montalvo has been making the news a lot lately?

Last week, the Saratoga News featured Montalvo in an extensive article about our Centennial, history, and upcoming programs. The article includes an interview with Executive Director Angela McConnell, who reflects on our past 100 years and outlines her vision for Montalvo's future.

If you're a San Jose Mercury News reader, be sure to keep your eye out for another great article in that paper in the coming weeks! It will include lots of photos and an exclusive online component viewable through mercurynews.com!

Meanwhile, the The Bay Citizen listed the Lucas Artists Residency Program in a blog article as one of the ten best residencies in the area!

He has also composed music and songs for many of his father's award-winning films, including Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Flags of our Fathers, and Gran Turino.

Climate Clock Finale

February 22, 6pm

San Jose Climate Clock Initiative

Three years ago, the San Jose Climate Clock Initiative was launched. Its goal: to commission a landmark work of art using measurement data and communications technology to help people understand climate change.

Three groups of artists were selected from over 50 submissions, and each final group was awarded a residency at Montalvo's Lucas Artists Residency Program to develop their proposal. The winning team will install their public art piece near Diridon Station in downtown San Jose sometime in the future.

"Organograph" is one of the proposed works for San Jose Climate Clock.

Join us on Wednesday, February 22, at 6pm, in the Residency Commons, for a FREE event, in which each Climate Clock group will present their prototypes and proposals in the hope that their work will become Silicon Valley's next sculptural landmark. Refreshments will be served, and you will have an opportunity to mingle with many of the artists!
