Starry, Starry Night:
Art & Astronomy Slumber Party blasts off August 10
Starry Night and the Perseid Meteor Shower

Join us on Friday, August 10, starting at 7pm and continuing into the morning for Starry, Starry Night, Montalvo's Art & Astronomy Slumber Party! Celebrate the night sky with a variety of fun, interactive, and educational activities, watch the Perseid Meteor Shower, then sleep under the stars on the Great Lawn.

The evening will include a conversation with a NASA astronomer, storytelling sessions, hands-on arts and music workshops, artist JD Beltran's amazing AstroTable inside the Villa, space-themed movies showing in the Carriage House Theatre, and more! Beverages and snacks will be available on the Great Lawn, and telescopes will be set up so that you can view the stars.

Bring your sleeping bag (no tents!) and sleep on the lawn, then awaken bright and early to a free pancake breakfast served on the veranda of the historic Villa.

This one-of-a-kind event is the perfect way for both adults and kids to explore the stars and be inspired! Tickets are only available through the Montalvo Box Office at 408-961-5858, 10am-4pm Monday-Friday.

Thanks to everyone who came and participated in Daniel Canogar's Asalto Montalvo (above), sat under the canopy of Robin Lasser and Adrienne Pao's Edible Dress Tent, visited the Creekside Studio and Organograph, and joined Kianga Ford for her hike up the trails to experience her sound piece you are here. man. mountain. valley. sky. We hope you enjoyed the event, had a chance to grab a meal from the gourmet food trucks, and stopped in to browse the Historical Fabrications & Souvenirs for sale in the gallery.

And thanks to everyone who participated in our Photo Contest. Entries are now closed, and we will be posting many of our favorites and announcing the winner soon. Like us on Facebook or add us on Google+ to see all the great pictures from the evening!

Daniel Canogar's

The Film Trilogy

opens this Sunday, July 29

The Film Trilogy
The Film Trilogy, by Daniel Canogar

Visit the Project Space Gallery beginning this Sunday, July 29, at 11am, for our new exhibition, The Film Trilogy, by media artist Daniel Canogar.

For the exhibition, Canogar, whose large-scale projection Asalto Montalvo was a featured component of Rock the Garden party last Friday, will create three multimedia installations in the gallery: In Spin, he uses 100 discarded DVDs, projecting their copied content onto their surfaces and combining the soundtracks to create an acoustic experience. In a related work, he projects video animation over an environment constructed from VHS videotape. Lastly, a new work entitled Flicker involves a projection over 35mm celluloid film.

A native of Madrid, Canogar earned his masters degree from NYU and has created numerous large-scale public works in his home town as well as Rome, Naples, Brussels, and Rio de Janeiro. Don't miss your chance to see the work of this internationally-acclaimed artist.
