"World music in its truest sense"
                                    —The New York Times

The buzz in the South Bay this week is all about OneBeat and their outstanding music festival coming up on Sunday, October 19, from 11am-4pm at Montalvo.

This extraordinary musical event will feature small group performances staged throughout our grounds that showcase unique new works created by OneBeat during their stay at the Lucas Artists Residency Program.

Admission to the festival is FREE; on-site parking is $10. Free parking will be available at West Valley College with free shuttle service to and from Montalvo throughout the event.

Guests are invited to mingle among the musicians, pick up a meal from a gourmet food truck, and later gather in the Garden Theatre for an ensemble performance.

Want to know more? Read about it in the San Jose Mercury News here, the Metro here, and the San Francisco Examiner here. For video features, don't miss this YouTube playlist being created by OneBeat as the musicians have arrived at Montalvo, met one another, and started making music together; and keep an eye on Stark Insider, where you'll see reporter Loni Stark get to know the group and learn a new instrument (pictured above).

OneBeat is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, produced by Bang on a Can's Found Sound Nation.

Mozart: Nov 16

Josef Lange, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1789)

Join us on Sunday, November 16, at 3pm in the historic Villa for the first performance of the season by Montalvo's resident chamber ensemble, the Saint Michael Trio: Deconstructing Mozart.

He is the most enduringly popular of classical composers and his influence is still felt centuries later. But how much do we actually know about Mozart? Find out as the trio explores the myths and mysteries surrounding the iconic composer, and performs some milestones from his chamber music repertoire.
