Both of these wonderful celebrations showcased the beauty of Montalvo while highlighting our history and bringing a community of supporters together to share memories, food, happiness, and friendships. If you were there, we hope you had a fabulous time, and that you will return to Montalvo again soon to experience one or more of our arts, education, or performance events!

Final Fridays with Ry Rocklen

Ry Rocklen
Ry Rocklen

On Friday, June 29, at 6pm, join sculptor Ry Rocklen in the Lucas Artists Residency Commons for a FREE and fascinating Final Fridays event!

During his residency at Montalvo, Rocklen plans to create a series of sculptures based on aspects of the sun, wind, rain, and stars using simple objects and materials scavenged from in and around Saratoga. During his Final Fridays event, he will discuss these sculptures, his working process, and other recent projects.

Final Fridays are FREE to the public and give the community an opportunity to see and engage with our artists-in-residence. Beer, wine, and refreshments are available. For a full list of upcoming Final Fridays, click here.

Summer Camp Profile:

Drawing from Fantasy

Student ArtistIf your child is interested in drawing, you won't want to miss our new Summer Arts Camp, Drawing from Fantasy: A New Way of Seeing from July 9-13.

Taught by former artist-in-residence Dana Harel, this class (for ages 9-12) will introduce students to the realms of fantasy and the surreal as they tap into their imaginations and learn to draw from real life observation. Your child will learn pencil shading, composition, and design, and will work on techniques to developing a keen eye for detail.

Harel's graphite drawings on large-scale paper have exhibited in galleries from San Francisco to New York - including an exhibition at Montalvo last year.

With more than 20 camps still remaining this summer, there is sure to be one that your child will love. Many have filled up, so click here to see the list of camps, and reserve a space today!
