Our excellent Piano Masters series continues in December with concerts by two celebrated Jazz performers.


Join us on Sunday, December 2, at 7:30pm, for Alfredo RodriguezDiscovered at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2006 by Quincy Jones, Cuban-born Rodriguez is a young pianist of astonishing virtuosity and imagination. Schooled in classical conservatories of Havana, Rodriguez's riveting artistry is informed as much by Bach and Stravinsky as by his Cuban and jazz roots.


On Sunday, December 16, at 7:30pm, don't miss the Grammy-nominated Fred Hersch in a solo performance. Described by Vanity Fair as "the most arrestingly innovative pianist in jazz over the last decade," Hersch's career of over 20 years includes a Guggenheim Fellowship, more than 70 original jazz compositions, and numerous other accolades.

with Tribute to Blues Masters

The J.C. Smith Band and special guests present a musical tribute to blues legends on Saturday, November 10, at 7:30pm.


Smith's past concerts at Montalvo have been known to bring audiences to their feet, dancing in the aisles! Join us again as "one of the top blues acts in the Bay Area" (Metro), brings a special cast of friends together on stage to pay musical tribute to legendary blues musicians Hubert Sumlin, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Etta James, Honeyboy Edwards, and Pinetop Perkins!
