Walking/talking about art: Perceptual (Part Two) this Sunday

Untitled (belvedere temple)

Join Lucas Artists Program Fellows Chris Fraser and Justin Lowman this Sunday, December 14, from 4:30-6:30pm, for Perceptual (Part Two)—a fascinating afternoon of walking and talking about the artists' brand new works on display on Montalvo's grounds.

Beginning at the Project Space Gallery, the artists will discuss their new installations featured in the exhibition Perceptual. We will then walk to view Lowman's latest work, Untitled (Belvedere Temple) [pictured above] and a model of Animated, Fraser's sculpture, which will premiere in January 2015. Please wear comfortable shoes!

The walk will be followed by a chat indoors, where Fraser and Lowman will discuss their practice and inspirations in greater depth. Cocoa, coffee, and hot tea will be offered at no charge.

To get in the spirit of the event, follow our new blog series "Evolution of an Artwork," written by Justin Lowman, documenting the creation of Untitled (Belvedere Temple). And don't miss Perceptual: Chris Fraser and Justin Lowman, on view now through February 1 in the Project Space Gallery.

Montalvo is a member-supported
non-profit organization
dedicated to the arts.

Bringing the arts
to our community

Michele Guieu with students at Montalvo

Montalvo offers the community a wealth of arts-related programs and opportunities throughout the year. Between our world-class concert seriessummer campspublic celebrations, and more, we serve nearly a quarter million people on our serene and scenic 175-acre grounds. That's why you should consider a donation to Montalvo this holiday season. Here's an
example of what our donors' gifts made possible in 2014:

Michele Guieu (pictured above with some of her students this past summer) is a professional artist originally from France who is one of our teaching artists. Michele designed arts-based physics lessons for all of the second grade students at elementary schools in Campbell this past school year, making abstract concepts about forces in motion concrete and helping her students master state science requirements.

A gift to Montalvo supports artists like Michele and their work in the classroom and beyond. Won’t you please make a gift—of any amount—to help meet our year-end goal of $250,000? If you can't make a cash donation, in-kind gifts from our wish list can be just as valuable.
