Donor Profile: Cathie & Jeff Thermond
Jeff and Cathie Thermond

If you’re a regular at Montalvo’s concerts, you may notice that our Carriage House Theatre has been given an upgrade: a new cyclorama and drapery, updated stage and house lighting, and a new projection system. Our backstage area has also undergone extensive renovations. These improvements have been made possible through the generosity of long-time Montalvo donors Cathie and Jeff Thermond.

The Thermonds have been involved at Montalvo for over 25 years. Cathie has participated for nearly 10 years on our Education Committee, more than six years on our Board of Trustees, and served as Montalvo's Board President from 2013 to 2015. The Thermonds' decision to support these renovations grew out of their belief in the importance of the performing arts. “I am struck by the magic that happens in theatre spaces," says Cathie. "There’s an intimacy and a coming together that is incredibly important. We have to make sure we preserve these spaces, and encourage younger audiences to do the same."

“Over the years, Montalvo has given us specific moments of uninterrupted joy,” Jeff says.  “It’s consistently been a place where we have delightful experiences that are meaningful, enriching, and sometimes surprising. Such experiences are precious and rare," he continues, "and that’s what Cathie and I find at Montalvo."
