Giving Trees:
NetApp helps us go greener
NetApp volunteers planting trees
Volunteers from NetApp planted trees on the grounds last week.

For our 100 year anniversary in 2012, Montalvo appealed to the community for help restoring our arboretum to its former beauty and beyond with a campaign to plant 100 new trees on the grounds. Established in the 1960s, the arboretum includes rare and wonderful trees, but over the years, we have suffered some losses. Now, thanks to the generosity of local tech company NetApp and the hard work of volunteers they deployed to Montalvo, a fabulous restoration is underway!

Last week, the first phase of plantings began, with 17 trees going into the ground. They may not look like much now, but in a few months (and years), these trees will make for a spectacular sight along the paths through our gardens!

From gardening to ushering at concerts to helping prepare food for artists, Montalvo has so many fun and lively volunteer roles, and we'd love for you to join us! Click here to learn more!

Summer Camp Spotlight
Missoula Children's Theatre:
Kids perform Blackbeard the Pirate
and Alice in Wonderland

Blackbeard the Pirate

Our popular Missoula Children's Theatre Summer Camps are filling up fast! These camps give kids ages 6-15 a chance to learn all aspects of theatrical production in a fun environment.

First, it's Blackbeard the Pirate (June 24-28), the popular high seas adventure featuring swords, treasure, and plenty of swash-buckling! Then, from July 29-August 6, return for Alice in Wonderland, based on the witty tale of a little girl on a big adventure in a strange place.

Both camps culminate in a performance on Friday evening; camp fees include tickets to the performance so that you can see your child's stage debut! Register soon: these camps sell out every summer.

Chitresh Das Dance Company
Chitresh Das Dance will "hold you spellbound"
         -San Francisco Chronicle

The Chitresh Das Dance Company exemplifies the timeless technical, graceful, and dramatic aspects of North India's classical Kathak dance. See this beautiful art form live on stage Saturday, April 20, at 11am in the intimate Carriage House Theatre.

Kathak, which comes from the word "katha," meaning "to tell stories," is an art form that integrates rhythmical compositions, fitness, math, singing, instrumentation, improvisation, and breath control to achieve a higher state of consciousness.

This beautiful performance, which is perfect for audiences of all ages, will give a glimpse of the four elements of Kathak dance: tayaari (technique), layakari (rhythm), khubsoorti (beauty) and nazaakat (delicacy). The dancers perform a traditional gat bhao (story), where one dancer plays the role of several characters.

Tickets are still available! Purchase yours online today, or call the Box Office at 408-961-5858 10am-4pm Monday-Friday.
