Now Hear This! Opening Celebration July 21
Now Hear This!

Don’t miss the opening celebration of Montalvo’s newest outdoor exhibition, focused on the simple but important act of listening.
Now Hear This! will debut in spectacular fashion on Friday, July 21 from 6-10pm with a festival taking place throughout our beautiful grounds.

Featuring five newly commissioned site-specific sound-based artworks by distinguished artists
Taraneh HemamiWalter KitunduHugh LivingstonShane A. Myrbeck & Emily Shisko, and Stephen Vitiello installed across the property for the summer, as well as additional one-night-only sonic experiences, the opening will truly be a night to remember.

You'll also experience the launch of Soundings, an immersive musical experience available for download through the mobile app Detour. Bringing the concert stage to the great outdoors, Soundings is an exciting way to explore Montalvo’s gardens and trails while listening to works by celebrated Lucas Artist Composer Fellows.

You can also enjoy a meal at one of the on-site gourmet food trucks, participate in art making activities, and engage with artist Taro Hattori’s traveling community conversation project Rolling Counterpoint

Signs of the ARTpocalypse
ARTpocalypse Now!

Are you creative enough to survive the end of the world? Join us on Tuesday, July 18 from 5-8pm for ARTpocalypse Now! -- and find out!

This evening of creative and collaborative problem-solving puts participants in a post-apocalyptic world. Artificial intelligence (AI) has surpassed its human creators, and across Silicon Valley, Montalvo's 175-acre estate is one of the last human strongholds. You'll move through stations around the grounds, using your ingenuity to address different survival scenarios. Can you create shelter? Find food? How will you contact other survivors?

We promise this evening will be full of surprises. Come as a group or by yourself -- either way, you'll make some new friends as you navigate these fun and challenging exercises on a beautiful Montalvo evening.

This class is part of our Montalvo Summer Nights program, a series of after-hours arts practice workshops where experimentation is encouraged and light refreshments (including wine) are provided in a fun, social setting. All necessary art supplies are included in the registration fees, and all experience levels are welcome!

To register, click the button below or call the Box Office at 408-961-5858, Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm.
