Rock the Garden 2015

Join us  on Friday, July 24, from 6-10pm for Rock the Garden: Artists Residency Alumni Celebration & Performance in the Park, our annual Art on the Grounds party. This year, we're commemorating the inauguration of an artists residency at Montalvo 75 years ago and the 10-year jubilee of the Sally and Don Lucas Artists Program.

This dazzling, large-scale festival will showcase live work by Montalvo Artist Fellows. Enjoy electrifying performances by dancers, musicians, visual and performing artists, acrobats, and more—plus gourmet fare from Bay Area food trucks. And it's free! (On-site parking: $10; free shuttles from West Valley College, lot 5).

Summer Luncheons at Montalvo

Our fabulous weekly Summer Luncheons began yesterday and will continue throughout the summer, with a changing menu each week catered by Napkin Ring and featured fashions from local merchants.

These delightful meals are your opportunity to dine al fresco on the front veranda of our historic Villa overlooking the Great Lawn on a sunny summer day.

Seating times are 12pm, 12:30pm, or 1pm. Reserve an intimate table for two, or bring a small group and have a blast together at a larger table. These luncheons sell out, so reserve today!

floral design classes

Floral Arrangement

Mickie Anderson, a graduate of the Home Flower Arrangers Program at Filoli and a former House Flower Arranger there, shares her passion for floral design in a new series of classes geared to help participants master a variety of styles. In a relaxed and fun environment, learn to create highlights and depth, and add visual interest by varying sizes, shapes, and colors.


All skill levels are welcome! Your $45 enrollment fee includes all flowers, a vase, and structural materials as needed. Participants are asked to bring clippers, an apron, a towel, and something to write on.

Summer Blooms

You'll be introduced to key techniques for composing visually arresting arrangements, and use of the color wheel to determine ideal combinations of flowers.

Sunday, November 8

Learn to create innovative arrangements showcasing the bounty of fall, using foliage from your own garden. You will also learn how to create a successful asymmetrical arrangement.
