Moulin Montalvo!

Save the date for a magnifique soirée on Saturday, June 16 from 5:30-10:30pm as we go back in time to transform into the sensational cabaret, Moulin Montalvo.

The evening will be full of Belle Époque surprises: wander through the garden street café. Mingle with artists. Savor sumptuous cuisine by Le Papillon, paired with gorgeous wines. Dance the night away in the Bal Musette in the historic Villa. Raise your paddle at an incredible live auction, featuring once-in-a-lifetime experience packages.

There is tremendous excitement around this event, which we anticipate will sell out completely. Tickets will go on sale later in March, so be prepared to get yours early! Funds raised will go to support Montalvo’s Artistic and Educational Programming. Sponsorship opportunities are still available; click here to download a sponsorship packet.

This Friday: Don't Look Away
Don't Look Away

Join Will Calhoun, Danez Smith, Monica Sok, and Julian Talamantez Brolaski tomorrow (Friday, February 23 at 7pm) for our next Open Access event,  Don't Look Away -- a vibrant and inspiring evening of poetry and musical performances.

The evening will begin with Smith, Sok, and Brolansky reading powerful poetry. Next, Calhoun (the two-time Grammy-winning drummer from the group Living Colour) will present an improvisational performance with live drums, ambient electronics, photo images, loops, and indigenous flutes; displaying a unique approach to storytelling. Guests will have a unique chance to experience how artists combine their voices with music to break boundaries, express painful histories, and erase stereotypes.

Tickets are just $10, so don't miss it! And be sure to invite your friends through our Facebook event page.

Bridge the Gap at Arts In Your Classroom
Arts in Your Classroom 2018: Jeff Chang

Spaces are still available at our 16th annual Arts In Your Classroom conference on Saturday, March 3 from 9am-4pm. This integrated learning symposium is for artists, educators, and members of the community interested in better understanding where arts and creative practice can enhance their professional and personal development.

The theme for this year's conference is Bridging the Gap: Transforming Perceptions of Division. Explore how the arts can help build tangible connections and cultivate empathy in an increasingly disparate and divisive world.

Our keynote speaker will be Jeff Chang, Executive Director of the Institute for Diversity in the Arts at Stanford University and award-winning author. Poet Venus Jones will do a reading to open the event, and Lucas Artists Fellow Jennifer Johns will perform at the closing reception.

To see full descriptions of the five workshops you can choose to participate in, visit our website here. Continuing Education Credits are also available for educators who attend.
