Montalvo's Education Department will present moderated conversation topics ranging from current trends in education, pedagogical theories, issues in schools, classrooms, and our communities.

Bring a friend, colleague, or anyone else interested in the field of education who would like to join the discussion!

This Month's Topic: Education Under the Trump Administration

This session will touch on topics ranging from the role of the arts in classrooms under our new Secretary of Education to the direction of education policy as a whole on national, state, and county levels. With uncertainty over the future direction of education, this will be an opportunity to express ideas and voice concerns while sharing resources and opportunities with peers.

Our conversation will be moderated by Charlee Wagner, Director of Education at Montalvo, and Jeannine Flores, Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator at the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

Jeannine Flores is the Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator at the Santa Clara County Office of Education. With 19 years of experience in the education field, she has a passion for arts integration across curriculums and is a supporter of visual arts, media arts, theater, dance, music, and drama in the classroom. Her background is instrumental music, and has outstanding experience at both the elementary and secondary levels. She was named teacher of the year in 2005 and has received grants from Disney, Mr. Holland Opus, and more. Most recently, she served as lead in the development and launch of a new elementary music program in the Tustin Unified School District in which all students integrated technology and common core while learning to sing, play, perform, and compose in a trimester wheel model.
