Agustin Lira & ALMA is an all-acoustic ensemble that brings to life the Chicano/Latino experience through musical presentations. Lira co-founded EL TEATRO CAMPESINO (Farmworkers' Theater) in 1965 during the Delano Grape Strike directed by Cesar Chavez. He wrote plays and songs associated with the farmworker struggle and the Chicano Movement. NEA National Heritage Fellow for 2007, Lira continues to be recognized locally as well as statewide for his outstanding contributions to the cultural arts of the Chicano/Latino community in this country. He teamed up with PATRICIA WELLS SOLORZANO in 1979 to form musical group Alma; RAVI KNYPSTRA joined the group in 1991.
